- Only the first worksheet is exported. Formatting is removed. Formulas use saved results; formulas are not recalculated. Values that could be interpreted as formulas receive a leading apostrophe to keep them as text.

Prepare spreadsheet values for another system
Use Excel to CSV when an import tool needs a simple table instead of a workbook. This conversion exports the first worksheet of an XLSX file into a UTF-8 CSV. Move the worksheet you need to the first position before saving and uploading. Cell styling, images, charts, and the workbook’s other sheets are not carried into the CSV.
Review formulas and formula-like text before import
Formula cells use the results already saved inside the workbook; the converter does not calculate them again. Recalculate and save the source in your spreadsheet editor if the results need updating. Values that could be interpreted as spreadsheet formulas receive a leading apostrophe. Check how the destination import system handles that apostrophe, date values, empty cells, and identifiers before importing the whole file.

What about multiple worksheets?
A CSV contains one table. This tool exports only the first worksheet; move the desired sheet to the first position before uploading.
Why does a value begin with an apostrophe in the CSV?
Values that resemble formulas are prefixed with an apostrophe to keep spreadsheet programs from executing them automatically. This can affect values starting with characters such as equals, plus, minus, or at-sign. Review the result before loading it into another system.
Are spreadsheet formulas recalculated during conversion?
No. Formula cells use their saved results. A missing saved result may produce an empty value. Open, recalculate, and save the workbook in your spreadsheet editor before conversion when fresh results are important.
